The State Darwin Museum was founded in 1907 by Alexander Kots, a world-known scientist and museologist. Originally, it was used as an educational collection at the Moscow Higher Women's Courses. In those days, it was the world's first museum explaining Charles Darwin’s theory of natural selection and evolution. Today, it remains one of the most important biological collections visited by both scientists and ordinary people.
