The Moscow Museum of Paleontology was founded in 1937 and got its name after Yuri Alexandrovich Orlov, Russian zoologist, paleontologist, and member of the USSR Academy of Sciences. It occupies a magnificent building in Profsoyuznaya Street, the total area of which is as much as 5,000 sq. meters. Exhibit Halls and Hundreds of Great Discoveries
Here, in the Orlov Museum, you will see the following showrooms:
- Introductory Hall, demonstrating a wide range of organisms, which lived on the Earth millions of years ago. Most of them survived up to now in the form of fossils and bones. All these artifacts are the research subject of paleontology, the science aimed at the restoration the world's history of development.
- Precambrian and Early Paleozoic Hall, featuring the plants and organisms of the earliest “age” of our Planet. During your tours to the Orlov Museum of Paleontology in Moscow, you’ll enjoy the carved limestone with the images of inhabitants of the Early Paleozoic seas and the ceramic panel showing the evolution of the plant world.
- Late Paleozoic − Early Mesozoic Room, where there is a collection of different vertebrates, such as cartilaginous, armored and bony fishes, high-speed predators, and mammal-like reptiles.
